Secret Weapon of Good Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
There's the obvious SEO stuff like semantic mark up with css and clean xhtml, clean urls, and a bunch of other stuff that you can Google (like lots of text for the spiders to eat). However, you need more than that to get a good rank — not that I'm an expert since mine came down from tasty 5 to a 4 recently (after adding my links to Facebook... hummm) — the way to really get somewhere is one-way links to you from good ranking sites that are in your industry or articles related to your industry. I had a lot of in-bound links from non-related stuff (since this used to be an ecommerce site). But I digress... Check out Text Link Ads and use the current month name in lower case (october for example) and you'll probably get a discount, they also have sign up specials. I've done this and went from a 0 to 4 in three months on another site. Cool huh?

Also, if you don't know what page rank is, it's a way that Google ranks a page and it's not where it falls in the search results. You can also Google information about that and get a toolbar to tell you what's up with your site(s). Don't obsess though, they have SEO experts for that!
